Arnold, CA…Can you still Pioneer in 2021? We certainly hope so and are betting our future on it. We hope to turn a 5 acre hilly, steep mountain property into a livable little homestead. We also plan on doing this for less that $100k. We chose this amount as it is about the maximum mortgage someone working at a minimum wage job can afford. Land, vehicles & a home for $100k in California no less? That is our goal and our plan and we are willing to bet 2,000 hours of our life to prove it.
We have many of the logs needed for our first little log cabin already cut and ready to go. Our location however is in a steep remote portion of our parcel and we need something such as a 4wheeler of Jeep to get them into place. To get a larger vehicle we would have to take down a few very nice trees that we would like to keep living and flourishing.
So what to do? We picked up a 1944 Ford GPW Army Jeep that had been through a forest fire and needed to be returned to service. Most of the big parts are there but most things combustible have combusted. But the motor isn’t frozen up and if we can get it running for the price of what a new four wheeler might have cost then it will now only not only pull our logs but Hewn Hill will have a Jeep.
Join us tonight for another late night hour or so. The only time we have is after finish our late night local news webcast for a local news outlet that we run. So many of these will be literally taken from our sleep but so be it.
